How does this work? Step by step help
Use Simple rename when all your files should be named the same way, for example Invoice-1, Invoice-2, Invoice-3.
Add your PDFs. Drop them in the box below, or click it to choose them. You can pick many at once.
Choose how the new names are made. Type a word in Start with (like Invoice), choose whether to keep the current file name, and add a number or a date if you want. The Example box shows the result straight away.
Check the list. The New name column shows what each file will be called. Don't like one? Click it and type your own.

What the Status column means:
Ready the file gets its new name.
Not in the list no row matches this file, so it keeps its name. Check the spelling in column A.
Characters not allowed… signs like / : * ? " < > | can't be in a file name, so they were changed to _.
Same name as another file two files would get the same name, so a number like (2) is added.
Tip: you can also use your own list, as long as one column has the current file names and one has the new names. Choose which column is which under the list. After renaming, Download updated Excel gives back your list with a column saying what happened to each file.

PDFMasala is a free set of PDF tools: edit, organize, merge, split, compress, watermark, and convert to and from images, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HTML.
It is built around one idea: your documents are yours. The tools run on your own device instead of on someone else's server, so there is nothing to upload, no account to create and no limit on how many files you can work on.

This Privacy Policy explains what information PDFMasala ("we", "us") handles when you use this website, how cookies and advertising work here, and the choices you have.
1. Your documents
PDFMasala's tools work inside your web browser. The PDFs, images and other files you open are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our servers. We cannot see, store or share the contents of your documents.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Netlify) records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems. We do not use it to identify you.
3. Cookies and local storage
Necessary: your cookie choice, and the tool you were last using (for the current tab only). These are stored in your browser and are needed for the site to work as expected.
Advertising: set by Google and its partners to show and measure ads (see section 4).
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
PDFMasala is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

6. Other services we use
Netlify hosts the website.
Google Fonts provides the site's fonts, and open-source PDF libraries may be loaded from a public CDN (cdnjs). These receive a normal web request (such as your IP address), never your documents.
Google AdSense shows ads, as described above.
7. Children
PDFMasala is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information and to object to certain processing. Because we do not keep accounts or your documents, we hold very little about you. For requests about advertising data, use Google's settings linked above, or contact us.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The new version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date.

PDFMasala provides free online tools to view, edit, organise, convert and rename PDF and related files. The tools run in your web browser, and your files are processed on your own device. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

You keep all rights to the files you use with the Service. Because your files are processed on your device, we do not receive, store or claim any rights in them. You are solely responsible for your files, for making sure you have the right to use and modify them, and for keeping your own copies.

to break any law or regulation, or to infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
to create forged, falsified or misleading documents, or to commit fraud;

The Service, including its design, text, graphics, logos and software, belongs to PDFMasala and is protected by copyright and other laws. The Service is supported by advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies. By using the Service you accept that ads are shown. 7. Third-party links and services
The Service may link to or rely on websites and services we do not control. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every file will be processed perfectly. Always keep a copy of your original files.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFMasala will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us to use the Service, which is zero.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold PDFMasala harmless from any claims, losses or expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
11. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or stop access to the Service, for anyone, at any time, for example to protect the Service or other users, or if these Terms are breached.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when published on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.

Is PDFMasala really free?
Yes. There are no paid plans, no sign-up and no limit on the number or size of files, beyond what your device can handle.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are opened and processed on your own device. See the Privacy Policy for the few cases where the app contacts another site.
How do I edit a PDF?
Drop a PDF on the home page or choose a file. In the editor, use Select, Text, Highlight, Eraser and Whiteout in the top toolbar, and Sign, Draw, Stamps and Image under Advanced Tools. Press Save PDF to download the result.
How do I undo a mistake?
Use the Undo and Redo buttons at the top left of the editor, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y. Every edit is also listed under Applied Edits, where it can be removed with its × button.
How do I use the same PDF in another tool?
In the editor, open the "Edit in:" menu at the top left and pick a tool. The same PDF opens there. Save first if you want to keep edits made in the editor.
Why does my text look slightly different in the saved PDF?
Saved text uses the fonts built into the PDF format (Helvetica, Times and Courier). The "Default (System)" font is saved as Helvetica.
A password-protected PDF will not open. What can I do?
Remove the password in the app that created the file, or open it with its password elsewhere and save an unprotected copy, then try again.
Which browsers are supported?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. For large files, a desktop browser works best.
